this is a way to generic request.

by the way the product is called HCL Notes/Domino..

where are messages created and now?
what type of client is used on the receiving side?

A Domino server will send the MIME stream 1:1.

Depending on the client used and the settings, MIME messages could look different.

Depending on the client used on the receicving side, the received MIME stream and specially the attachments, could be interpreted in different ways.

Knowing how the message is send, having the RAW MIME stream sent by Domino and looking into that RAW MIME stream, could help to understand what is going wrong here.

If capturing the message on the remote side is difficult, Domino can capture inbound and outbound messages via notes.ini settings into RAW message data one file per message.

IMHO general statement like this is not helpful as a AHA idea.
