HCL Domino Ideas Portal

Welcome to the #dominoforever Product Ideas Forum! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated by HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

Include the author in posts, comments, and votes and give the author the option to post anonymously

There are many benefits to knowing who you are talking to in the forum.  It also helps hold people accountable for what they post.  So posts and comments should include the author's name.  If anonymity is necessary to make someone happy (gdpr?), then allow the option to post anonymously.

Another benefit is that this would facilitate the Top Innovators feature that I also requested here.

For many years this forum was hosted at ideajam.net.  (which happened to be built on Domino as a great demonstration of the power of Domino apps.)  The website has a feature to recognize the "Top Innovators", those people who contributed most ideas, comments, and votes (for and against) and number of votes received by their ideas.  http://www.ideajam.net/ideajam/p/ij.nsf/topinnovators?readform

Such a component would require including the authors' names on the posts and comments.

I would like to see this feature implemented here in domino.ideas.aha.io

BTW, Ideajam also had a way to submit ideas for ideajam itself.  That is not an option here at aha.io, so I'm posting this in App Dev.  Companions to this idea are also posted for allowing voting PROMOTE / ABSTAIN / DEMOTE an idea (just as important as voting up) and publishing the names of the authors (or allowing them to choose anonymous).

It looks strange for me that all the ideas and comments were authored by a guest.  I checked the official site of Aha  and found the demo there shows the authors' names normally.  After a Google search,  I came to this idea which I agree to completely.  Giving the contributors' credits is a good way to keep their  enthusiasm. IdeaJam is a good example.

on closer inspection, Thomas, it appears your name and gravatar image appear and it identifies you as an admin.  I would like mine to appear too.  As the user I would like the choice.-dh

Huh?  I'm not asking to display the username.  I'm asking to display the member's name as they entered in the first name and last name fields in their profile.  Why have a profile name if it can't be displayed?  Not to mention your name as I am describing appears in your comment below.  Why display the name of someone posting a comment, but not in the original post? -dh

Since some people are using their email address as user name, displaying the user name means that we would be exposing your email address or your identity to spamers or others that are profiling our community. We wanted to protect the privacy of our loyal customer base and have disabled displaying the user name on the web. Anybody who still wants to show his identity can add his name anyway.
