Welcome to the #dominoforever Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated jointly by the IBM & HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

FTSearch: remove certain fields from the index (per database customization)

FTSearch scans all the items on a note, even those items that are not visible to the end user. Users complain of false positives when they search for something, but get more results than expected because the values are not visible to the end user. Typical: I look for documents where I am an author, but receive all documents as a result because my name is in a hidden readers field. Potentially could reduce the size of the FTIndex and increase search speed.

Good idea, but what with fields that are visible to some users, and not to others?

Seconded. An opt-out of FT index would save loads of aggro.

Re some fields being visible to some people: Just leave them in !

But some fields like $updatedby and unique key  fields .. depending on the design, you might never want them to be indexed
