Welcome to the #dominoforever Product Ideas Lab! The place where you can submit product ideas and enhancement request. We encourage you to participate by voting on, commenting on, and creating new ideas. All new ideas will be evaluated jointly by the IBM & HCL Product Management & Engineering teams, and the next steps will be communicated. While not all submitted ideas will be executed upon, community feedback will play a key role in influencing which ideas are and when they will be implemented.

Auto-compact workspace self-cleaning feature

With larger client databases in older organizations, long time employees often have unusual problems or error messages and after investigating, we often find that the client workspace is well below the "healthy" designation of 85%, sometimes as low as 16% or lower. Most users do not know to intuitively do this maintenance and even the help desk does not always get this on first level support, so this would be a big help to support, performance, and overall user experience. It seems that compacting the workspace could incorporated into the shutdown or launch process of the Notes client.

Currently this is possible by using 3rd party tools for Notes client management. (e.g. Panagenda MarvelClient)

Windows didn't do security/antivirus for a while either due to 3rd party options. Then they did.

Also my workspace contains "dead" replica icons on the stack which ain´t behave correct anymore.

There were from former, now invalid, pathes of a replica of a database.

If I delete them it´s ok, but if a add the replica bookmark of the concering database on the concerning server, then the old, yet deleted bookmark comes up again!

Compacting workspace with or without the dead icons does not solve the situation.

I have extended little bit the idea with areas which are painful for long time users - https://domino.ideas.aha.io/ideas/NTS-I-174

Another thought may be to put a visual indicator with a compact button in a toolbar above/below the screen so at least support knows to start there. It's just not a natural thing to check for a client user.
