Calendar to open in read mode

Web links in the description on the web do not work.  Most of the time calendar entries being opened do not need to be in edit mode by default.  Could there be an option to open in read mode vs edit mode?

I just don't think there's enough demand for this feature, but I'm willing to be told I'm wrong.  In all the many years I've worked in this space I've never been asked for a r/o calendar.  And I guarantee the support staff in enterprises will be inundated with user calls saying, "why can't I update my calendar." :-)

Its not a question of making the calendar itself read only, but rather have the default open option being in read mode vs edit mode.  When it is in edit mode when you open a meeting by default this prevents links in the description from being clickable.  The idea is that when opening a calendar event in Verse that it opens in read mode first with an option to edit if needed.

I understand.  Thanks for the clarification.
